The SR-32JIII Type B is a further upgrade to our existing SR-32J, offering a range of benefits including improved rigidity, enhanced swarf clearance, upgraded ergonomics, Step Cycle Pro chip-breaking technology and the inclusion of a sub-spindle flush pump as standard.

These upgrades, alongside increased spindle power for higher metal removal rates, enable the machine to consistently and accurately perform intricate operations within a single setup.

Apart from the added benefits that we can re-claim the cutting oil.  The biggest benefit is that the washing solution in our washing plant becomes less contaminated.  This has helped prolong the use of our detergent and eliminates the weekly change of solution.  Calculations predicate that this investment will provide annual savings of 8% on our energy usage and eliminate 2T of CO2e.

June has seen an exciting growth for our facilities with our new Addition bending machine, purchased to manufacture precision components for a long-term client in the automotive industry. A cutting-edge, special purpose machine, built to Addition’s exacting standards of robustness and accuracy, the machine is able to bend parts twice as fast as previous machines in our facility.

We took the decision to invest in Addition due to their reputation for exceptional customer service and industry knowledge, as well as the accuracy, repeatability, and ease of use of their machines.

We are greatly looking forward to the new capacity and production volume our improved facilities will allow us to offer our clients.

The latest addition to our versatile facility is a new Wickman 1″-6. The Wickman 1″-6 is a multispindle lathe, with fast and smooth production rates and highly consistent accuracy. It has been fitted with a Peterson shaving attachment, allowing it to hold an impressive 10-micron tolerance.

Our facility currently holds six Wickman machines, renowned in the industry for their exceptional speed and advantage for high volume production, whether they are producing parts for the gas, electrical, hydraulic or automotive industries. The introduction of our latest Wickman machine replaces one of our smaller machines in response to securing a new overseas customer which requires increased machining capacity.

To complement our continued investment into Wickman machinery, we are looking to appoint a Training & Development Manager with experience in operating and maintaining these types of machines, and pass their knowledge onto new apprentices which we are hoping to look into next year.

Our continued investment has allowed for a synergy between our Wickman and StarGB machines, enabling us to deliver both small and large volumes of high-quality precision turned parts in a flexible and versatile way.

In the future, MaS Precision has plans to invest in further machinery to increase our capacity and capabilities.

Expanding on our existing SR-20J from Star GB which has served us faultlessly for over 4 years, our new investment is the SR-32J, a sliding headstock lathe with a larger capacity to produce parts up to 35mm in diameter. The decision to expand our machining capabilities with more Star machinery comes after successfully securing a new overseas order with an automotive manufacturer which is expected to operate for up to 7 years.

The SR-32J offers the best-in-class operability, productivity and efficiency – featuring an independent sub spindle complete with a fully programmable C Axis for improved overlapping and reduced cycle times. Alongside the Turbo 3-36 bar feeder from FMB Machinery, our new investment increases our capacity to autonomously produce high-precision parts in large quantities.

To complement the purchase, our Engineering Technician Ben Smith and Trainee CNC Setter Reece Joseph attended a 3-day training course at Star GB’s facility in Derby. The course focussed on Star NC Assist, a programming text editor for Star machines which allows CNC programs to be generated quickly and accurately.

In light of announcing the completion of our new office development, we are excited to reveal our new cutting-edge quality and measurement laboratory. The new laboratory expands upon our previous quality facility and allows us to improve our already stringent quality control standards.

With a projector, roundness machines, a surface texture measurement machine, and a new coordinate measuring machine (CMM), we are proud to be able to offer extended quality assurance on every part we produce, whether large or small. This is reflected in our recent quality review in which the rate of customer returns remains at 0 parts per million (ppm).

This new investment will allow us to expand our production capacity in the future, offering even more of the high-quality output our customers have come to rely on.

Following on from our announcement that we will be renovating our facility with a brand new office development, we are pleased to announce that work has now been finalised and our new space is fully functional. The project took just six months in total to complete and boasts larger offices, a conference and boardroom, a canteen, increased space for the quality, finance and engineering departments, and a welcoming new reception area.

Our continued commitment to environmental health can be seen in the new facility’s LED lighting, offering a 75% energy saving compared to standard bulbs. Feedback from our staff and customers has been extremely positive, affirming our pledge to make MaS Precision a positive and welcoming place to work and invite customers to visit from around the world.

The developments offer exciting prospects for the future of MaS Precision, allowing us more space to grow our team as well as facilitate new equipment in our quality and engineering departments.
